I am a perfectionist, creative artist (former actor); spiritual and intuitive. I am happiest when I am working with words and expressing my self in writing, hence this blog’s existence.
In my teen years and early twenties, all I wanted was to be an actor. I got an advanced degree in theatre performance and worked as an actor for nearly fifteen wonderful years. I also dreamed of a writing career, but it seemed then to be only fantasy; just a hobby and a just a dream. Writing is a very personal business, and it scared me.
So, moving from acting to writing was not a conscious or well thought out decision, it just happened. (Don’t you love when things just happen? I do!) And this blog is a dream that just happened - hence its title: “only dreamin’.”
I write because I love the sound of words and love visualizing the pictures that words conjure up. To write in colors; and make words sound like music is beyond the beyond of fantastic. I am guilty of painfully, laboriously struggling for hours over a single sentence. I tend to think many writers do the same.
Writing is a passion that requires becoming practiced at the constant of change. Writing forces you to become proficient at learning, at observing, and seeking – not always knowing, but writing to know. (There is much to learn.)
It’s simply a dream to imagine that my writing, observations, or ideas will have a tiny impact on someone or change something in them…. Oh, I know…that’s a BIG dream. And, truthfully, I am not so naïve to believe that what I write will have lasting impact, or create change, or affect the world (though it’s nice to dream in that vein). So, I’m happy to simply communicate with you – to get out what is in me – to share.
This blog is dedicated to dreamin’ about happiness; about the meaning of gratitude, about justice, good health, friendship, and did I say happiness? In short, I intend to write about anything and everything that interests me. So, don’t expect a theme or a definite topic because I’ll be all over the place…! This blog and me – we are a work in progress.
If all else fails I hope writing here will enrich my ability to be appreciative, to be gratefully human.
I’m pleased that you have visited this, my personal odyssey!
