a new circus is coming to clearwater

by Andrea O'Connell

The location for the Casey Anthony Trial  jury selection location is clear now.  The city of  Clearwater is the location.  Clearwater is an area of Pinellas County, very close to St.Petersberg, Florida – which is home to the Dali Art Museum, (my favorite in all of Florida!).

It didn’t take long for the media to descend on the location.  In truth, the news in Palm Beach last night was curiously solemn as they realized it was not the location for jury selection.

Clearly, this case created a feeding-frenzy, and the media are like piranhas.  Well, I imagine that’s how it feels to those involved in this trial.

This photo, shot early this morning, shows how the media already lining up for the events of the day!

The truth is, the location has been discussed all weekend as a probable location – so much for secrecy!

The prospective jurors know what’s coming now – unless they live under a bushel, they’ve heard the news of this weekend’s big story: The Casey Anthony Circus is coming to Town.

It’s only fitting, really.  As that area is home to the Ringling College of Art and Design, and the Ringling Brothers Museum – another wonderful museum! (Note:  The Ringling College and Circus are located in Sarasota; very close to Clearwater.)

In the meantime, we can just hope that fair and impartial jurors will be found – and in short order, too!

If anyone can pull this off, the Honorable Judge Belvin Perry, Jr., can do it!

I hear the roar of justice with the smell of the circus greasepaint in the air – all the way from Clearwater to where I sit!  Smells pretty good, too!

LOL Kim! I goofed… the circus is actually in Sarasota… I visited Clearwater, St. Pete and Sarasota all in the same weekend – once upon a time – and I just confused myself!

Funny thing. We would go to my parents winter home every year and also to see the Ringling Brothers Circus, but in Sarasota. It was such an event, all their friends would bring their kids too and there would be a big group, waiting for the show to begin. And so it goes – big show.

Who will be delivering the feed for today’s jury selection? Are the jurors being chosen in a courtroom? And what time does the cirucs start?

    GM, Weezie!

I would guess they would get a box lunch if it is indeed up to the court to feed them.

I believe it is to start at 8 am EST – I could be wrong tho

Good morning Kim; which network is covering the feed? I’m in Canada and can only watch from my computer. I was always using WESH, but who now?

Weezie – WFTV is up and running…

They are getting ready to bring in the potential jurors, and begin questioning them…

The Defence-Team throw in a couple motions this morning and so JP is running a little behind.

He has denied Baez a Motion for more time for the Defence to order and retrieve some transcripts (I believe) and is now looking over another Motion from Finnell.
They had a quick side-bar, and I believe JP is now gone to talk to potential jury candidates…

        Air Tests ARE IN!

Kim has posted over at her place that they’ve been allowed in!

I will try to find out more about these D-Team Motions…

        Inmate X looks terrible –
Her hair looks like it was tied up and slept in like so…. And wasn’t brushed this morning. Just left ‘as is’, or re-tied without brushing it first…

Her sweater looks like it belongs to her grand-mother…
It is SO NOT Inmate ANTHONY’s “natural” look… And looks to be a sweater an OLDER lady would wear… IMO, of course.

She looks a little worried, and was whispering with her hand over her mouth, into Mason’s ear – The eyebrows were in a flurry then ,I tell ya…. LOL!

        Yea and Baez looks hungover.

      • May 9 2011

No one looks pleased at the defense table as far as B,M, and CA are concerned. You can see the stress is starting to take its toll.

Isn’t the jury coming from all the towns in Pinellas County? So, the county seat is Clearwater but the folks are coming from all over the county.

Just waiting for Jury potentials to come in with JP!

Hi Andrea, You can’t make this stuff up………………Ringling Brothers Circus Museum is in Clearwater. Hopefully, Baez’s circus act will not muddy up the water. Seriously, my prayers are that a wise jury will be selected, and little Caylee will finally have justice.

Chief Judge Belvin Perry has ruled the so-called “smell of death” in the trunk of Casey’s car will be allowed to be presented to the jury.

Interesting but not surprising Casey’s Tears were turned on already as soon as Judge Perry started to talk this Morning!
I thought according to Casey she didn’t have time to cry all the time she had do be composed at all times!
Well I guess the Reality of this Case is finally hitting her, poor Casey (NOT).
The Trial hasn’t even started yet, wait till she will see All the Evidence the State will present to the Jury, that would be the time for her Tears to flow.
We know what her Tears are all about, sure in the World aren’t for her Daughter Caylee
It’s All about Casey and what will happen to her.
Judge Perry is doing a very professional Job and there is a good Chance Caylee Marie will finally get her Justice! The Wait is well worth it.
The Game Playing by the Defense is finally over and now it will get down to Business, thanks to Judge Perry! JMO

Hey Kim- yes. And it’s a huge church there, too – very large – no doubt some jurors would be from that church.

      Oh boy!

Hi Andrea! What a day! Thinking of starting a pool to see how many motions the defense can file in one week of jury selection…………

Shows to go you Ringling after 100 years has not cornered the market. Big red noses and red ‘fros’ could not help the Carney folk in the court room. The OJ case took months to seat a jury. The judge really thought he could go through 100 jurors a day? In order for him to even try he has got to cut down the breaks and quit the hour and fifteen for lunch. It would help if he talked just a little faster. Junior at the prosecutors table was quick and efficient and even got out of his seat to answer the judge. Proper court room stuff. At the defense table Mason sat there and never got up until he wanted to make funny on his way to the podium, rare. Since Mason came to the DT and when he talks to the judge or someone on the stand he can’t resist the quips he has learned over 40 years. This is a capital case but somehow finds a way to try out his stand-up routine. I don’t think I would like my attorney to make ha-ha if my life was on the line. Anyway….I can’t see this done in a week. Sure they have people coming back on Wed. and that’s when the ha-ha and love fest is over. I thought one or two out of the people they talked to might be acceptable, big maybe. If the defense still has a jury consultant I bet they will be there on Wed. although Mason has seen enough trials to handle it. Last part of the hearing today was “2nd verse same as the first.” Once more time, with feeling, Baez asking for info the state or him could have asked for 2 years ago. He is trying very hard to put Perry on the ropes with that dreaded thought of appeal when the trial hasn’t started yet. My head hurts and my lips are tired from reading.
Andrea….once again thanks for letting me take up space…..my wife claims that is what I am best at….taking up space……film @11.

What wonderful comments – you’re wife is sure wrong as it relates to taking up space here! You just write and write and write as much as your heart desires – your comments are fabulous, DamagedPets… 🙂

Yes, Baez was trying his hardest to get continuances today. However, I can’t blame him for the last attempt, since Judge Perry was so upset about it, too. But, it really doesn’t matter too much since the info about the smell is coming in by Dr. Vass – he just won’t be able to talk about the chemicals present UNLESS he identifies all the chemical compounds in the FBI database…..

Isn’t that telling that the Asst. State Attorneys would stand up each time, but not Mr. Foghorn Leghorn! LOL!

And, I heard that there was a plea deal on the table today!!!!!!!
Wow… that is amazing to me – I wish she would have taken it, but I’m sure she’d rather die (literally) than admit to what she’s done. She’d rather roll the dice – sure her attorney’s want this show to go on, too. I bet they would not encourage her to take it because they would so miss their coming days in the sun. Little do they know, the sun in Florida gets just as hot as Hell itself.

      Talk to ya later!

Andrea thanks for the kind words! I would bet that because the FBI funded the work, Vass had to sign a confidentiality agreement and in no way could release the info. Casey should have taken the plea deal 1st time around. As far as rolling the dice why not? She rolled her folks and friends for any money she could an now a great possibility she will roll them under the bus at trial. Matter of fact…I wonder why the media isn’t charging to watch the trial like buying a fight or Big Time Wrestling, could you imagine…….
