a writer’s journal with photography

by Andrea O'Connell

I just published a book!   Well, “Blurb” is doing all the work….I just supplied the photos!

<—- That’s the cover of the book.  It’s a photography journal that I titled “Journal of Dreams.”

There are about twenty of my nature photos (birds, butterflies and flowers), throughout the 100 page journal.

It is very easy to create a book and it’s totally free!   It’s really fun to create.  If you want to make a book, go to the Blurb website:  http://www.blurb.com

You have to download some of their software to create your book, which is really no big deal and they (Blurb) make the rest easy.  And, there are many other types of books that you can create.  I started out making a date book, but switched to a journal midstream, and it was easy!

Click below to flip through my book.  The entire book is there.  You can purchase a copy via the link and I think I make about $5.00 (I’m not sure), on sales.  I need to look into how that works.

They say they print every book with high-quality paper and binding.  I just ordered a copy as a gift to my Mom; so I’ll let you know how it turns out.  From what I’ve read, they do a really good job and there are Blurb authors who are publishing and selling their own books like crazy!

I love the idea!

My book is below – Let me know what you think!

Hope you’re having a GREAT weekend!

Wow, I’m impressed! What a great idea!!
I’m already getting some ideas forming in my head!! I have two grandsons and I’ve taken thousands of pix of them (they’re both 4 yrs old). Now, I’m thinking a book for each of my daughters is a great idea!!
Thanks for the info! Your book looks beautiful! I clicked on the page-turner but got to see only a few photos. Wish I could look at them all!

Hi Kitt! That would be a lovely idea for your grandsons! It’s something they’ll have when they’re Dads to show their kids. You’ll have to email me the link to your book! It’s so funny, Kitt… After I made the book, I found this GREAT program from ADOBE for photography that’s like PhotoShop, but not nearly as complicated. It’s called Lightroom 4 and if you go to the Bundle site, you can download it for free! I like it better than GIMP…it’s easier.
On another note, I wonder why you couldn’t see all the photos? You should have been able to because I put the whole book on the viewer… Will you let me know if you try it again and still have a problem – if you don’t mind…? 🙂

Oh, good! I tried again, and am able to see all of them! Beautiful!!

I’m looking forward to checking into the Lightroom 4. Thanks for the heads-up!

I had used Gimp a lot in the past, and then I discovered Picasa. I have a lot of fun with that one.

aHHH! I forgot about Picassa! Thanks for reminding me…. Kitt… I got another call from Microsoft today! I’m going to the second phase, which is the onsite interview… Needless to say, I’m pretty excited. 🙂

        I have a question…
I’ve googled Lightroom 4. Is the one you’re using the one that is a free trial until March?

I don’t know what the Bundle site is!

Hi Kitt… it’s on the Blurb site – the same site where I created this journal is where you’ll find the download. Here’s the URL for the download: http://www.blurb.com/lightroom

Let me know if this helps….

Hi Tracie! Thank you so much! It’s funny though, all my photos are untouched, but only because I didn’t really know how to do it. Now that I’ve found LightRoom, on Adobe and am learning how to use it, I absolutely have to do another one!

Thank you again for visiting – your comments mean so much because I’m a huge fan of your work. 🙂
